Southwest Unitarian Universalist Conference

UU Regional Conference Coming to Houston
Southwest Unitarian Universalist Conference (SWUUC)

The 2012 spring meeting of the Southwest Unitarian Universalist Conference (SWUUC) will be held at Emerson UU church in Houston on April 27–29. The theme of this year’s conference is One World – Many Voices. The featured speaker is Juana Bordas, author of Salsa, Soul and Spirit: Leadership for a Multicultural Age and a popular speaker. Through her study and experience, Ms. Bordas has identified eight core leadership principles common to Latino, African American and Native American cultures.

Understanding these principles can enrich our efforts to truly embrace diversity in our congregations and reflect America’s multicultural reality in our membership. These leadership ideas inspired and sustained communities of color for generations. They can revitalize our own Unitarian Universalist work for justice and equality and help us wed spiritual reflection to practice.

UUs from all over the Southwest Region will be in Houston for this event. Join them that weekend at Emerson UU Church. Early registration is $100 and ends March 31. More information is available at www.emersonhouston.org/swuuc.html or www.swuuc.org
